The Golden Retriever
For years I have trained one Golden Retriever after another. The breed is very popular in America, and the Golden is the American dog. However, until this year I haven’t trained Golden as Service Dogs because the Golden I have worked with lacked the emotional stability and balance to do the job, the temperament to handle the stress of the work, and the instincts necessary to make them capable of the high standard of permanence we must have in any DOGWISH Service Dog. I do not wish to go into detail about what we saw with Golden's’, accept to say that they were not satisfactory for our use.
This all stopped 2 years ago when I got a Golden named Buddy in for our training program. Buddy was dynamic, smart, controlled, and performance oriented. I contacted his breeder immediately, and found that she lived a short distance from my facility. When I sold Buddy it left a hole in my heart. I love Buddy, and the thought of not having him available for me was heart breaking. So, I filled my kennel with Golden Retrievers, and started training one after another, in an attempt to reproduce what I saw in Buddy.
In doing so I have learned a great deal about the breed, and what it takes to produce top quality performance Service Dogs with Golden Retrievers. I have amassed several Golden’s, now in my kennel, in training as Service Dogs, and plan to breed, raise, and train many more.
I am presently training with several Golden’s that do display the particulars I need in my Service dogs, with very happy clients. I am willing to admit that I might have judged this breed wrongfully, and that the dogs are much better in many ways than I originally thought. Though I am very critical, and my standards are in many ways above and beyond what others might possess, my Golden’s are super! I have found, and am presently doing business with some of the top breeders in the market today.

Our primary Golden Retriever stud dog at DogWish is Blake.

In the process of purchasing several Golden's from top breeders across the nation, I claimed one as my own personal dog. Blake is an excellent specimen of Golden Retriever. His mother is the all time winner for females in the breed. He shows super responsiveness, is controlled, focused, and attentive, to a fault, because of his genetic lines. We are expecting great things in his puppies. |
