DogWish Testimonials & Success Stories
What our clients have to say about DogWish

We would love to share just a few of the many success stories, testimonials, and letters of heartfelt thanks that DogWish has received:

I wish to provide my endorsement of the DOGWISH training facility and staff.  I have been a K-9 handler and FEMA Director of Disaster Services for many years, and a part of FEMA’s emergency response team, until April 2005 when the teams were disbanded due to budget cuts.  I also am Chairman and elected Vice President of the American Red Cross Board of Directors.

My dog Casper was trained and certified as a Search & Rescue, Therapy, and Service Assistance K9 by DOGWISH.  Last year he was awarded the Therapy dog of the Year by the Delta Society, and the Disaster K9 of the Year by the Red Cross and FEMA.

Casper is allowed to enter and welcomed to several medical centers around this city and has been requested to attend a school function in May.  Casper has gone in to schools and been welcomed to do various functions.  Casper’s “brain wave and body functioning”, Seizure Alert training has made him superior to other K9s in his field, and has given him abilities that other K9s in this field do not possess.  Because of this he is able to work in social situations with responsiveness I have not seen in other K9s.  I have experienced the positive effect of numerous Service Assistance K9 dogs in both a clinical and education setting.

Finally, the more I work with Casper, the more I realize how special, what Bob Taylor does is.  I am literally overwhelmed with the continued ability to understand how respond to each situation that they have put into Casper.  Having owned and worked with him before and after their training I can attest that there is no comparison.  Casper continually amazes me, and as an Administrator working with the leading Neural Surgeons in America I have to admit that Bob’s ability to imprint his training into the Subconscious mind of dogs stands in a class above and beyond anything I have ever experienced.

I also now own two other K9s from DOGWISH trained by Bob Taylor and his staff.  They, all three, can detect seizures, diabetic blood irregularities, and are expert search dogs.  I am now working as a volunteer Sheriff for the Yakama Washington Department with my dog Dakota, a black Shepherd bred, raised, and trained by Bob, who is a world leader with Police K9s.

If Bob continues, DOGWISH will have the full support of myself and my contacts in Washington D.C.  Bob is a credit to his profession, and his country.

Sincerely,
Dr. David Kelso RN, PhD,
The Vice President of The American Red Cross, SB Search and Rescue, F.E.M.A. Director for S&R K9s-Northwestern United States, BSB K-9 and Medical Officer

Dear Bob,
Having had this dog for a year and having worked with you at your facility, our home, and other places, this letter is way past due.  We are overwhelmed with happiness and gratefulness for Kevin’s Autism Assistance K9 that goes by the name Rocko.  Rocko has made such a positive change in our son’s life.  Before Rocko, Kevin would tantrum when out in public.  We couldn’t go out to eat because Kevin couldn’t wait for his food.  He would yell and would climb over the booths.  It was very difficult to get any shopping done for necessities and just thinking about attempting to go out in the community would cause overall stress for our entire family.  Being that Kevin is not able to communicate his needs and wants, he will become very frustrated when in new situations.  We couldn’t even stay at our families or friends house for over an hour because Kevin would want to leave.  Kevin would act out with negative behaviors and would tantrum.

Now that we have Rocko we can go out into the community with ease.  Kevin is so happy to have Rocko by his side.  We often don’t have to prompt Kevin to get Rocko’s leash.  Kevin usually just does this by himself and will not let go of the leash.  This has helped so much.  Kevin usually wants to run around the store and will not stay by our side.  Now Kevin has to stay by our side because once he tries to take off Rocko will look at Kevin and will sit down.  Rocko is an 80 pound yellow lab and Kevin only weighs about 40 pounds.  Rocko looks at Kevin, and it seems to us that Rocko is saying “just try it, try to move me kid”.  Rocko is amazing.

Life is so much better now that we have Rocko.  We can go out to eat and we can get the shopping done without a problem.  Kevin is starting to talk more and is learning how to share with his new friend.  Kevin is becoming more independent now and is really taking charge of Rocko.  We can enjoy spending time with our relatives and don’t’ have to leave after an hour.  We can stay all day if we like because Kevin has Rocko and now he is happy to be anywhere.  We feel better knowing that Kevin is safe.  Rocko keeps Kevin safe in parking lot’s which can be very scary for us because Kevin is unaware of dangerous situations.  Rocko even attends speech therapy with Kevin and the therapist has noticed 100% improvement since we’ve gotten Rocko.

We can’t explain how happy we are and grateful to have been blessed with Rocko.  You are amazing and have helped our family so much by training Rocko so well.  We couldn’t imagine life without you and Rocko.  Thanks so much for helping our family.

Sincerely,
Russ, Martina, and Kevin Sakurai

Re: Bob Taylor - President, DOGWISH, Inc.

To Whom It May Concern,
This is a letter of recommendation for Bob Taylor, President - DOGWISH Foundation. We met Mr. Taylor at the Autism Awareness Conference in Bakersfield on February 28, 2007. We were impressed with his knowledge and background in breeding and training service K9s, his passion for how much help these animals provide, and his compassion for persons with disabilities and their families. Mr. Taylor was very patient in explaining how the dogs are trained to us and answering every question we could come up with.

We have a son with Asperger’s Syndrome (high functioning autism).  He is 12 years old, in the 6th grade, and is attending school in a regular education classroom with Special Education services. He suffers from high anxiety, great frustration that leads to UGLY outbursts, poor body awareness, low self-esteem, difficulty with verbal communication.  He does not understand body language, innuendos, and figures of speech (idioms). He is very sensitive to light, touch, sound, and taste. He really struggles to get through each day. We have been on a desperate search to find SOMETHING that would be a breakthrough in treatment for our son. When we heard about the services provided by Mr. Taylor’s organization, we were very hopeful that a Service K9 could be the tool that he needed to be a more confident and successful individual.

When we took our son to the US-K9 / DOGWISH Foundation training complex for the first time, we were impressed at how well the dogs were responding to their handlers, and the love that the handlers showed for the animals. That day, Mr. Taylor met our son for the first time. It seemed as though Mr. Taylor could “read” our son’s needs and fears as they talked together. Mr. Taylor immediately recognized that our son was very anxious, had all of the dogs put away, and requested that one special dog be brought out - his name is Thor. When Thor and my son saw each other, it was as if they were long-lost friends, reunited. Their bond was instantaneous! Since that moment, Thor and our son have been inseparable. Thor has given him self-confidence, higher self-esteem, better verbal communication skills, fewer meltdowns, the ability to interact better and more appropriately with his normal typical peers.  Thor has been the tool we have dreamed of finding for our son.

Mr. Taylor has been in continuous communication with us since Thor has been in our home. He has provided much help and direction as WE learn how to properly understand and care for Thor. Mr. Taylor and his handlers have continued to give us training and guidance in handling Thor. As we have encountered unexpected resistance from the School District and a local Autism Center, who have denied access to our son to be accompanied by his Service K9, Thor. Mr. Taylor has attended meetings with us, provided a wealth of information to the institutions about K9 training, and the laws that are in place to protect persons with disabilities and their rights to have a Service animal accompany them in ALL venues of life. Mr. Taylor has helped us to obtain a Civil Attorney to fight for our case. He takes all of these situations that effect “his K9s” and clients very seriously and very personally. He goes out of his way to help in any way possible. We couldn’t have better support!!

We would highly recommend the services of Bob Taylor and the DOGWISH Foundation to whomever is a person with disabilities, or their families, who feel that they could benefit from this amazing tool. What a great way to bring help, confidence, companionship, and independence to people that really deserve it!!!

Sincerely,
Tom and Kristi Saecker

My name is Mary Ann Loomis. I've had dogs (and loved them all) most of my life.  There were a few times I was without one and it felt like not having shoes to wear, something was missing.

I was in a pet store about 23 years ago and saw a flier for Superior dog training and I wanted to train my German Shepherd, Tasha, of 3 months.  I took home the flier and got more interested from what I read.  I went to see Bob and Marla Taylor of Superior Dog Training (at that time).  After talking to Bob and watching him work with his own dog and help clients in training theirs, I was impressed.  In talking to him it was amazing how he could read people as well as dogs.  He told me, because I was going to have a big dog I should start training soon.  I was so glad I did.  Tasha (my dog) weighed 105 lbs.  She was a great dog and I know the training helped make her that way.

I got to enjoying training so much I wanted to do it more and Bob was very encouraging for me to learn.  I'd go to Bob's 2-3 times a week to train.  I learned a lot. I worked with Bob for about 5 years.  I wanted to be a good trainer.

About 12 years later, and I no longer had Tasha, I went back to Bob and bought one of his puppy's, of which I still have.  Her name is Asta, also a German Shepherd. Asta is 11 1/2 years old now.  A lot of years have passed and I did train Asta.  She is such a great dog. We're so in tune with each other.  Dog training with Bob got me headed in the right direction for dog training.  Asta has her Good Citizenship Certification and she is also a certified Therapy dog!

My whole training experience and interest started with Bob.  His positive motivation and his love for the dogs, and us clients made a big difference in my life.

Thank you Bob
Mary Ann & Asta
